Fusion Church’s Growth Track: Attenders vs Members
The Growth Track Class has two main purposes:
To learn more about our church
To provide a pathway toward church membership
-
No! While completing the Growth Track Class is a key part of the journey, membership is not automatic upon completion. To become a member, we also ask individuals to complete a membership application and meet additional criteria, which may include:
An agreement with a statement of faith
A commitment to regular attendance
And an agreement with Fusion’s mission, vision, and purpose.
This process ensures that membership reflects a meaningful connection to our church, family, and its mission.
-
Yes, we want and encourage everyone to find a place to serve! In most roles, individuals can serve without completing the Growth Track Class. However, some opportunities such as teaching and lead vocalist positions, require church membership rather than just Growth Track completion. To serve in these roles, one must be an approved member of Fusion Church and meet specific criteria. Additionally, not all members are automatically eligible to teach or lead in worship—these positions require endorsement from the lead pastor to ensure alignment with the church’s vision and standards.
-
Approval for teaching or leading at Fusion Church is based on several key factors:
They must be an approved member of Fusion Church.
They have demonstrated a calling to teach or lead.
They have shown spiritual fruit in their area of calling.
They meet the 1 Timothy 3 model for leadership.
They exhibit key spiritual fruit and virtues as outlined in Galatians 5.
They have been approved by lead pastor and endorsed by the pastoral team to teach or lead.
Clarifying Growth Tracks’s Role:
There may be some misunderstanding that Growth Track automatically qualifies someone for teaching or leadership. However, the Growth Track Class is not the foundation for stepping into ministry—it is simply a pathway toward membership.
Once someone becomes a member, additional criteria, processes, and approvals are required, depending on the specific ministry or leadership level in which they seek to serve.
This ensures that teaching and leadership positions are filled by individuals who are:
spiritually mature,
biblically sound,
and aligned with the church’s vision and values.
-
Yes! New can begin serving in most ministries right away. Ministries tend to have a ministry ladder in place, meaning—individuals start at the first rung and grow into greater responsibilities over time.
In some unique cases, the pastoral team may adjust this process for an individual based on special circumstances. Our goal is to help everyone find a place to serve and grow in their faith while ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and values.
-
Yes! At Fusion they can serve in ministries that work with minors. However, they cannot serve in a teaching role unless they are an approved member and have been endorsed by the pastoral team.
For those serving in ministries with minors, additional steps are required beyond the standard serving process:
Completion of a background check
A minimum of 3 months of attendance at Fusion Church (unless the pastoral team adjusts this requirement based on individual circumstances)
An assessment of personality, spiritual gifting, and fruit to ensure the right fit for working with minors
Clarifying Teaching and Leadership Ministries for Minors:
Sometimes, team members ask, “Have they taken the Growth Track Class yet?” when determining if someone can teach. This is the wrong question. While Growth Track is an important step toward membership, it does not automatically qualify someone for teaching or leadership.
The right question is: “Are they an approved member, and has the pastoral team endorsed them for a position of influence?” This approach ensures that those entrusted with teaching and leadership responsibilities—especially in ministries involving minors—are spiritually mature, aligned with the church’s values, and properly vetted for their role.
-
Both attenders and members can serve at Fusion Church, but the key difference is the level of influence they are entrusted with.
Approved church members who the pastoral team has endorsed can be delegated varying levels of influence within a ministry team.
Church attendees who are not members are welcome to serve, but their level of influence is capped until they are ready to make a deeper commitment to the Fusion body of believers.
Why This Matters?
This structure ensures that those in positions of greater influence are:
Properly vetted spiritually
Called and gifted for their role
Demonstrating spiritual fruit
Living a life of spiritual maturity that is above reproach (1 Timothy 3)
In reality, church membership provides deeper relational connection and accountability, allowing leadership to know and vet individuals thoroughly before entrusting them with greater responsibility.
Ultimately, this process is in place to protect the body of Christ and maintain the integrity of ministry leadership.
